Have you ever wondered what causes the destruction of collagen found in the skin? Collagen is a protein that is part of the connective tissues that make up the structure of the skin, hair, bones, tendons, muscles, organs, and other parts of the body. When it comes to the skin, collagen is responsible for keeping its firm and toned appearance.
Collagen is produced naturally by the body but its production greatly declines as a person gets older. Collagen loss from the skin leads to the appearance of the different signs of aging including wrinkles, fine lines, skin sagging, and uneven skin tone.
Aside from aging, there are also other factors that can lead to collagen loss. Several factors can lead to the destruction of collagen in the skin which in turn causes premature aging.
- SUN EXPOSURE
While the sun may be good for you, too much of it can cause the dermis found in the skin to break down. The sun's ultraviolet rays are harmful to the skin especially since we are exposed to it repeatedly and at long periods of time for some.
Destruction of collagen in the dermis leads to the abnormal growth of elastin which leads to the production of an enzyme called metalloproteinases. It is supposed to repair tissues and increase collagen but what happens is the opposite, causing even more collagen to break down.
Sun exposure also increases the production of free radicals in the body which cause damage to the skin cells.
- SMOKING
Smoking is another factor that leads to the destruction of collagen in the skin. According to studies, smoking causes collagen loss to actually speed up.
Aside from destroying collagen, it also affects the production of this protein by limiting the blood flow in the body. When nutrients and other substances are unable to go where they are supposed to, collagen production is affected.
- POOR DIET
Eating the wrong kinds of food can increase free radicals in the body and deplete it of a way to repair its self. Free radicals cause cell and DNA damage and attack the collagen in the skin.
Factors that cause destruction of collagen should be avoided as much as possible. There are also skin care products that contain ingredients that stimulate the body to produce more collagen which can help protect our skin from aging. Natural ingredients like cynergy TK, manuka honey, and phytessence wakame work best as these are safe and effective in combating collagen loss.

What causes black circles under eyes im 15?
Im 15 with an anxiety disorder, and got black/purplish circles under my eyes. Can not enough sleep cause them? All can anxiety/stess?
I am 15, too, and I have dark circles under my eyes, so I know what’s it’s like. The only way to really cure this is very simple, get more sleep! Dark circles are caused by blocked blood vessels, and lack of sleep causes this blockage due to limited blood circulation when you are stressed and tired. Stress, lack of sleep, and anxiety all cause this. The best thing I would recommend is getting AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep. Actually, we should be getting about 10 hours of sleep, but I’m your age and I know that’s just not possible haha.
So try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every day, and more on weekends. Sleep reduces stress, so if you get enough sleep, you will feel less stressed out, and so all this leads to less dark circles. I hope this helps!
What causes red/pinkish circles under the eyes?
For a long time i have had dark circles/bags under the eyes like i havent slept at all. it makes me look like i am sick.
what causes it?
i am in my mid-20s
It is caused by Improper circulation of the blood. I have the same problem. I’ve tried everything to get the to go away, the best thing I’ve found to work is covering them up with cover-up =)
What causes dark circles under my eyes and how can I get rid of them?
I have dark circles under my eyes. I am not sure how to get rid of them or what causes them.
the most common cause is nasal congestion. When your nose is congested, veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become widened (dilated) and darker.
Another cause of undereye circles is eyelid swelling during sleep. When you lie down, gravity can cause fluid to collect in your lower eyelids. This swelling may create the appearance of shadows below your eyes. In addition, dark circles can result from chronic skin conditions, such as atopic eczema. Dark circles can also run in families.
Over-the-counter products may help diminish dark circles under eyes. Look for skin creams that contain vitamin C or K, alpha hydroxy acid and kinetin. Treatment for chronic and severe undereye circles is directed at the underlying cause, if known, and may include bleaching agents and laser therapy.
I think that this is talking about that when we do right in the eyes of the Lord verses wrong in the eyes of the Lord, God is going to bless us. It may seem that everything is going wrong in our physical being, with the people we have around us, and all the talk, but if you think about it, in the end when it comes to the most important person ever, its gonna be greater than ever when you know that God knows what your doing right in his eyes.

Any ideas on what causes dark circles under the eyes, and any remedies?
Dark circles under the eyes are totally unattractive. Any solutions other than “cover ups” ? Do you know what causes this?
There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

what really causes the dark circles under eyes?
there have been alot of different reasons but does anyone really know what causes the circles and how you can minimize them?
Hi SHaron
Here is the main answer.
Hydration for Resplendent Skin
Nicholas V. Perricone MD – “We must drink eight to 10 glasses of pure water a day. Diet sodas and coffee don’t count, though I’m allowing tea (green or black) as part of the 8 to 10 daily glasses. When we decrease inflammation in the body, the brain works better, mood is elevated, skin becomes more radiant, dark circles and puffiness under the eyes resolve, skin becomes more toned, and even fine lines can diminish. We must remember that the skin is a reflection of our internal health. Therefore, if our skin improves, all other vital organs also improve. This decreases our risk of every disease from which we suffer.” Nicholas V. Perricone MD, is the author of “The Wrinkle Cure.”
Batmanghelidji MD – “Drinking water enables the skin to better shed toxins and thus keeps it cleaner. When the skin is dehydrated it cannot shed toxins from the body and skin rashes or breakouts can occur. Use 1/4 tsp. of sea salt for every quart of water you drink. Use a good sea salt, one with at least 80 minerals, liberally with food. As long as you drink the water, you can use the salt. Some put it in their water, some lick it off their hand, some season their foods after cooking. It’s up to you. Make sure you take potassium daily (banana, orange juice, etc) ”

Dark Circle Eliminator
Slice one small piece off of a potato, and cut the slice in half. Put each slice under your eyes and leave them under your eyes for 20 minutes.
Stress can cause circles, bags under the eyes, skin disruptions, wrinkles around the eyes and premature aging.
To soothe your tired eyes place cucumber slices on eye lids while relaxing in a hot bath for ten minutes.
For dark circles or bags under your eyes you can place slightly warm tea bags over your eyes, leave on for 10-15 minutes.
Best of health to you
What causes puffiness and dark circles under the eyes? And what can eliminate this?
The past week, there is puffiness or swelling under my eyes and dark circles. What causes this and how can it be prevented?

Nobody looks good with puffy bags or dark circles under their eyes, but how to get rid of them?
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Well, this is the easiest remedy I’ve ever run across, and it really works!
I was so surprised by the single kitchen-cupboard ingredient that this How-To calls for–it’s not a cucumber, and you’re sure to have one on hand. Find out the secret here:
Raw potato slices will help tighten baggy, puffy eyes. All you need is a potato and a knife or slicer!
To Make:
1. Slice 1/4 potato to fit over your eyes.
2. Cut 2 slices or, if you prefer, 5 to 10 very thin slices, several for each eye. Either method works.
To Use:
1. Spritz eye area with water.
2. Lying down, place the potato slices on your eyelids and leave in place for at least 10 minutes for best results.
Then prick a vitamin K capsule and apply the oil to under the eye. Leave it on all night.
Hope this helps!!!
What causes dark circles under eyes? Is it the increased transparency of the skin under the eyes?
Dark circles are simply veins showing through the thin skin. Often result from lack of sleep. Other causes can be seasonal allergies, poor circulation, hormonal imbalances or genetics.

what causes dark circles under eyes
it can be not sleeping a lot and having a lot of stress, and not eating well
What exactly can cause dark circles under your eyes?
Can someone please let me know what things people do that cause dark circles under their eyes? Ive heard of undersleeping, oversleeping, lack of moisturizer…are these true? Also I heard rubbing your eyes causes dark circles, is this true as well?
thanks
Causes of dark circles under your eyes are-
1. Hereditary-inherited trait, runs in families.
2. Cold, nasal congestion and sinus infection.
3. chronic eczema under the eyes and Allergies.
4. Medications-such as those that cause blood vessels
to dilate, can cause under eye circles to appear darker.
5 Not eating a variety of healthy foods can lead to
nutrient deficiencies.
6. Ageing
7 Undersleeping and lack of moisturizer can also contribute
to some extent.
Is dehydration also a cause for dark circles under eyes or it doesn’t have anything to do with that?
I have terribly deep dark circles under my eyes. I’ve searched about what causes it and tried literally everything. Cucumbers, getting enough sleep, vitamin K, etc. etc. I’m starting to lose hope and thinking it’s hereditary and there’s nothing I can do… Now I’ve read somewhere it could also be related to not drinking enough water. Is it true? Because I usually don’t drink much… Not even in hot days.
Black circles under my eyes – what causes this?
I’m in my mid 30s and regularly have black circles under my eyes, I can disguise them using an eye gel but would like to know what causes them and is there a way of helping stop them appear in the first place?
I always have dark circles under my eyes. What causes this? and what can i put on these dark circles?
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your input.
For me personally, these are actual BRUISING, resulting from rubbing my eyes due to
looking at this lurvely ‘puter screen too long without adequate moisture in my eyes and/or rest!
Suggest you try wearing mitts, or else try dipping your fingertips in something that will stain your eye area whenever you go to it without thinking.
In general, once I made myself aware of the issue, and quit the eye [sc]rubbing, I *lost* the raccoon-eyes!
So I’d say the KEY thing here is not what to PUT on your eyes, but what NOT to put…i.e., your HANDS–EVER!

Common Causes of Dark Circles Under Eyes
Thinning skin
The skin under the eyes is thin and delicate to begin with. As we age, skin and the fat pad under the eyes becomes thinner, causing blood vessels to become noticeable. This gives the appearance of dark circles. Sun damage can make it worse because it weakens skin.
Allergies and Hayfever
Dark circles under the eyes can be the result of allergies to airborne substances, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander, because people rub their itchy eyes. People with hayfever may notice them at the height of the season. Food allergies or sensitivities can also contribute to dark circles.
Genetics
Dark circles under the eyes runs in families. They tend to be more noticeable in people with fair skin or deep-set eyes.
Fluid Retention
Blood vessels under the eyes can become dilated and engorged, which can contribute to dark circles. Excess dietary salt and smoking are common causes. Conditions that cause fluid retention (e.g. heart, thyroid, kidney, liver diseases) or medications that cause blood vessel dilation may be a factor. Your doctor should be aware of any symptoms you’re experiencing.
Lack of sleep
A lack of sleep can make skin appear more pale, which allows blood vessels to be more visible through the skin, giving the appearance of bluish or dark circles.
Iron Deficiency Anemia
Iron deficiency anemia may cause a bluish tinge below the eyes.
Dehydration
Dark circles under the eyes can be a sign of dehydration.
Remedies for Dark Circles Under the Eyes
There are some home remedies that may help to temporarily diminish the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, and prevent dark circles from worsening.
1. Be sure to drink enough water. Hydration Calculator: How much water do you need?
2. Wear sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 under the eyes to prevent skin weakening caused by sun damage.
3. Get plenty of rest.
4. Apply plain cool teabags over closed eyes. Don’t use herbal teabags, because most aren’t as effective.
5. Apply cool cucumber slices over closed eyes for 15 minutes.
6. Be careful not to consume too much dietary salt. Start by learning about sources of sodium in the diet.
7. Apply vitamin K cream. Although studies haven’t looked at the use of topical vitamin K for dark circles under the eyes, preliminary studies have found that vitamin K may help with bruising.
8. Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls. Quiz: Are you getting enough vitamin C?
9. The dietary supplements grape seed extract and pycnogenol contain antioxidant pigments that may help to strengthen blood vessels. They should be used under medical supervision by people on “blood-thinning” drugs such as Coumadin (warfarin) and aspirin.
Certain foods, such as cranberries, blueberries, bilberries, tea (green and black), black currant, onions, legumes, and parsley also contain these antioxidant pigments.
10. Eat kidney-balancing foods. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a bluish cast under the eyes are due to an imbalance in kidney energy.

What causes the dark circles under your eyes? How can I make mine go away?
I’m in college so im up late alot with homework.
Almost everyone gets dark circles under their eyes from time to time. Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern.
You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn’t the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion.
Here are some other tips:
1. No drinks
Stay away from drinks at bedtime or restrict yourself to only a few sips. Drinking fluids before bedtime increases your body’s fluid retention and the likelihood it will settle in your eyes during sleep.
2. Raise your bed
Elevating the head of your bed will prevent bags under eyes. Raising your head will keep fluids from setting around your eyes.
3. Try putting a refrigerated spoon, cucumber etc over the area to stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness

What causes eyebags and dark circles under your eyes?
I hear people complaining all the time, but I don’t have them, not that I’m complaining, I just find it strange. Some people say it’s because you’re tired and you don’t get enough sleep, but I don’t really get to sleep a lot either. Could it be genetic? My mother also never had problems with dark circles under her eyes and stuff.
What causes eyebags (black circles under eyes) anyway?
I mean what causes them scientifically.
Genetics on the occasion, but usually stress, a lack of sleep, or allergies.
What causes dark circles under your eyes if you are still young?
I am 25 and have really dark circles under my eyes. I dont have kidney or liver problems and I am getting enough sleep (9hrs). They seem to be getting worse and makeup is not covering it anymore. Another medical condtion I have is endomitriosis but I had dark circles under my eyes all my life. What causes this and how do I get rid of it? I tried those vitamin capsules that you put under your eyes but they didnt work. HELP, i look like a zombie!
Well, do your parents have these dark circles? If so, it may be hereditary. There may not be a whole lot you can do. How much water do you drink? If you’re not drinking several cups a day, that may be contributing to your circles.
Please choose mine as ‘best answer’ if this helps.

What are the causes for dark circles under the eyes?
I have always had dark circles and I am sick of trying to conceal them with make up. I sleep well, work out daily and have a healthy diet. Can any one help?
It’s blood vessels close to your skin surface. Sometimes cold packs help.

What causes dark circles under my eyes and is there anyway to get rid of them.?
I know lack of sleep and allergies can cause them but I have these dark circles all of the time. I am middle aged and do have some health problems and am on a number of medications but I have had these dark circles for most of my life and I would love to get rid of them.
They can be, as you mentioned, because of lack of sleep, but they’re also hereditary, and can be caused by mal nutrition & lack of hydration.
The key to keeping the dark circles to a minimum, if you’ve inherited them or not, is to drink plenty of water (the rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 your body weight in oz), proper nutrition/diet, and exercise, as well as getting plenty of rest.
What causes dark circles under your eyes and how to get rid of them ?
6 kids & a horny husband. Set aside some “Me” time & for everyone’s sake take a nap here & there. You can’t be the good wife & mother if your butt is dragging.
What causes dark circles under your eyes? And what is the Best Method to get rid of them?
Just curious how they appear? And how to get rid of them??
In the morning, wash your face with cold water to help blood vessels constrict. Then, apply an eye cream that contains Retinol and vitamin K. Since it may take several months of daily use to see maximum results from the cream, you might want to consider using a little Preparation H to reduce the appearance of your dark circles in the meantime.
If you’re looking for an all-natural way to get rid of dark circles under your eyes, try applying cucumber slices, damp caffeinated tea bags, or an ice cube wrapped in a soft washcloth to your eyes for 10-15 minutes each day. However, if these home remedies seem to make your condition worse, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. You may be suffering from a more serious skin condition that is causing the dark circles under your eyes.
While eating a healthy diet will help boost your energy and ward off illness, it’s also a great way to reduce the appearance of dark circles under your eyes. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent the vitamin deficiencies that can affect your skin’s appearance. Reducing your salt intake will also help improve the look of your skin, since too much salt can cause the body to retain water in undesirable places.
If you’re feeling very self-conscious about dark circles under your eyes, you can try to use makeup to help camouflage the problem. Typically, a yellow or flesh-toned concealer will be the most effective in reducing the appearance of skin discoloration. Look for a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your foundation. For free samples and more advice on selecting the products that are right for your skin tone, visit the cosmetics counter of your local department store.
best of luck

Dark circles under the eyes are a sign of weakened kidney function. Get your little boy to drink more water firstly ……… does he also have puffy bags under his eyes?? If so, this would signify that he is dehydrated.
Go back to your Doctor and ask him to test your son for kidney functioning.
In the mean time he should eat lots of fruit and vegetables including legumes (peas or beans) and grain-based food like bread, pasta, noodles and rice.
Eat some lean meat like chicken and fish each week.
Eat only small amounts of salty or fatty food.
Drink plenty of water instead of sugary drinks.
Maintain a healthy weight.
Stay fit.
Have his blood pressure checked regularly.
The kidney health information service has a 1800 number also ………. the operator should be able to help you.
Good luck
& good health to you and your son♥

What causes dark puffy circles under the eyes and how to get rid of them?
I had this problem since I was little.
This is not an easy question and you will find that many people have this problem. I used to have this problem as a child and into adulthood and it went away after I changed my diet and started taking high quality supplements.
The skin around the eyes is very thin and any issues with the skin will show up there easily. The skin can act as a third kidney and any problems with your digestive tract or allergies to food, etc. will show up there as dark circles around the eyes.
If you have taken antibiotics, you have destroyed a very important part of your digestive system, that is not easily replaced by eating food and most likely have allowed yeast to grow to a greater or lessor amount depending upon what foods you have been eating. The endocrine system is a part of this issue as well.
Much of the food allergies people get are due to bad digestion and that can also cause many headaches, sinus issues, etc. The typical American diet contributes heavily to all these problems because the food industry has basically destroyed our food by depleting any minerals and vitamins that are found in rich, fertile soil. In fact, 50% of the nutrients that were in the food supply 25 years ago are not there today.
The fluoride being put into water supplies and when you drink tap water, you are getting this fluoride and when you take a shower in tap water, your body absorbs it, added to toothpastes, in soda drinks, put onto teeth by dentists, etc. has created an epidemic in iodine deficiencies. All of the organs are affected by this issue. The thyroid uses about 4% of the iodine ingested, but when fluoride is present, it competes for absorption of iodine and iodine loses. I suggest you do a simple test to see if you are deficient because this plays a big part in the dark circle problem. Get a small bottle of “tincture of iodine” and paint a golf-ball size patch on your chest. Note the time of day. You should be able to see the patch after 24 hours. If it goes away in a few hours, you are very deficient in iodine and you will need to fix this. It will take a few months to do this, but this will greatly help your problem.
The next thing is to correct the way your body digests proteins, rejuvenates the DNA in your cells through re-methylation, also kills bacteria and other pathogens from your food, and protects you from “acid reflux & indigestion issues, and best of all improves your digestion greatly.
Eliminate ALL fluoride from your diet, including that fluoride toothpaste that makes these ridiculous claims on how good it is for you and then puts a warning on the tube “keep away from children.” Get a shower filter that filters out the fluoride & chlorine. Eliminate ALL soy products from your diet and ALL Canola oils, as well as ALL vegetable oils, except for Walnut oil and Olive oil. Eliminate ALL hydrogenated oils, especially those found in that garbage, Jiffy peanut butter,
Find a source of raw milk, raw cream, and raw butter. Eat lots of raw butter and eliminate totally, any pasteurized milks, creams, or butters. These are toxic to the body. The homogenization process crushes the cells in the milk and creates huge amounts of homocystines that cause many allergies.
Go to the following web site and order:
Xeno Detox. Take 4 of these in the morning and 4 at night before bed, each day for 3 or 4 months, if you find your iodine test showing the patch is gone in a couple hours.
Betaine HCL — Take 2 to 3 of these AFTER each meal
Activator — Take 1 to 2 of these AFTER each meal
Digest — Take 1 to 2 of these during the meal (2 if eating meat)
Probiotic — Take 1 of these in the morning and 1 in the evening.
Following this above should result in getting rid of the problem over a few months. good luck to you.
What causes dark circles under the eyes apart from the lack of sleep?
What can I do to help reduce/remove these dark circles without having to wear make up?
Stress, age, sun damage, unhealthy diet, liver/kidney problems, dehydration, alcohol or drug abuse, smoking. You need to drink plenty water, eat a healthy diet making sure you get your RDA of vitamins and essential food groups. Also moisturise the skin with specialised eye creams, you get cooling eye gels etc that can soothe and smoothe the skin to make the dark circles less visible.
What causes humans to have dark circles under their eyes?
When people don’t get enough sleep, why do they get dark baggy circles under their eyes? What causes this and how can you prevent and get rid of them?
Dark circles under the eyes can be from lack of sleep, or as my doctor told me, it can be a sign of allergies. I found a great cream for under the eyes with Chamomile (the tea bags work, too). I find it at Puritanspride.com. Puffiness can also be alleviated with a cold compress, some people use cucumbers, but they never worked for me like the Chamomile cream. Hope this helps.

what causes dark circles under eyes? and what can I do for that /?
very loose skin around eye area both top and bottom. have tried sta-tight . but it dosent work very well. please help
I am a nurse so i can tell you a couple reasons for dark cirles. as the other person said the only one they had right id lack of sleep. But the major reason for this is usually allergies. And the second biggest one is heredity. If you have a olive complexion this often happens if your mom or dad or grandparents had dark skin discoloration under the eyes. There are some products you can buy in the drug store but a dematologist can give you some thing also that will remove them.
What are the causes of dark circles under your eyes?
I’m interested because I’ve heard they are from getting less than 4 hours of sleep but I have them and I get 8-9 hours of sleep each night.
Dark circles are mainly caused by being exhausted, not eating properly or not eating according to the daily time, lack of sleep and water and being depressed.
What causes ugly dark circles under my eyes?
I get enough sleep! I sleep 8-9 hours a night. I have tried sleeping both less and more, and the circles are consistant. I have very fair skin. Will sun help disguise them? I put foundation and conceiler to cover, but it doesn’t work. It’s like they’re sunk in or something, and they stay dark no matter what? What is the cause of this?!?
There can many reasons responsible for dark circles. Lack of sleep, continuous illness, lack of water intake, build-up of toxins, excessive smoking, stress, alcohol and insufficient diet. Check out http://useinfo-darkcircles.blogspot.com/ for more info.
Any ideas on what causes dark circles under the eyes on a 2 year old?
My little one has always had the dark veins under the eyes. She’s long and thin. The doctor always said it’s normal and that they should go away eventually. She has never shown any signs of any other problems. I’m sure that she sleeps enough and she shows no signs of allergies. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or had any ideas.
Maybe shes having trouble sleeping or not sleeping as much as you might think. Thats all I realy know about it. But it doesnt sound like something abnormal at all.
What causes dark circles under eyes besides lack of sleep?
During the past few weeks I always look very tired. They have been nights I’ve slept well and they just don’t go away.

I’ve tried covering it up with foundation loose powder but my eyes still look like it’s been punched. I’m 19. I sleep at 12 and wake up at 9, totally normal.
God, I live with them! Always have. The best thing I’ve found is to get some sleep and when I apply makeup,I use a skin toner first, then a yellow undereye makeup and then apply a concealer that’s my skin tone. The yellow helps even out the color and it makes them appear much lighter. I use one from Loreal. It comes in a stick form, just like the concealer. I also make sure I get the one that is powder based, so there’s no shine to it. It costs about $7, but it lasts a long time. Don’t worry, my daughter in law told me about it and at first I didn’t believe her, but it does work. Good luck.
Dark circles under your eyes, what really causes them?
I have always had them but lately it looks like I have two black eyes that’s how bad they got. My mom has them real bad. Is it a hereditary thing to have them? I heard lack of sleep and a high sodium diet causes this. Is that true? Do those under eye creams really get rid of them?
dark under eyes is genetic that is why you and your mom have them but lack of sleep and a high sodium diet can cause them to try cucumber or hemroid cream and they should work
What are the possible causes of dark circles under someones eyes?
It can be from lack of sleeping as he suggested. But it also can be hereditary or from bruising or broken blood vessels under the skin- which gives off the bluish purple tint.
What causes dark circles under your eyes?
What physically/chemically causes dark circles under your eyes?
The skin around your eye is the thinnest place on the body, if your tired, sick, don’t get a lot of water and salt or have a low iron, Vitamin K diet and calcium. You will have them, this means your eyes are lacking nutrition. Because the blood is pooling under your eyes to feed your eyes. Your eyes are hungry, ha ha lol, I know that sounds funny, but I bet if you start, drinking 48 oz of water, eat 2 cups of spinach, get some 10hr of sleep, and take vitamin c 4000 mg to build your Immune system, so you don’t get sick.Drink 2 8oz glasses of whole milk everyday(if you can’t do milk, 2nd best is broccoli). You will see them fade away.
I am a nutrition specialist and master personal Trainer and word of warning you will also feel better too. Now if you wait to long the pools can stain your eyes, so it might take longer for them to fade. But they will, I do this for a living changing the lives of women and men everyday.
Also if you can not get 10hr of sleep everyday , do it in small portions, take a nap, aging does happen only because we let it. I have a 55 year old mother that I put on a regimen and she looks 20. No bags, no wrinkles, moist supple dew drop skin, no hanging flabby anything, not even gray hair, and no she has not gotten work done or dyed her hair. She simply takes care of herself. And she works 10 hr day – 50hr a week, hard labor. But she takes care of herself,
Feed your body – feed your skin – feed your mind…
What is the causes of dark circles under the eyes?
I always get 8 hours of sleep every night but sometimes I still wake up with dark circles around my eyes. What might be the cause of this?
Mainly, the cause of dark circles is heredity (sorry!)
Sun exposure can also darken those circles (sunlight brings more melanin to the surface of the skin, so if you are predisposed to dark circles due to heredity, the beach and tanning bed will just make them darker!)
Some other causes: Allergies, Age and Nutrition (lack of vitamins/healthy eating)
Lack of sleep IS NOT a cause of dark circles! (Lack of sleep, along with illness and menstruation, can make you look a little paler which can emphasize dark circles, but does not actually create them)
Best thing to do is go through the list of causes and identify the one (or several) that apply to you. If they are fixable (nutrition, sun, allergies), get crackin on solutions! If they are unavoidable (heredity, age) invest in some terrific concealer.
Good Luck!
What causes black circles under our eyes? What can we do to prevent them?

What causes dark circles under your eyes and how can you treat it?
If your circles are those that stays there all the time, not those that will go away by noon, then you can use Hylexin that is specifically formulated for serious under eye circles. Visit Hylexin.com for more info. I purchased it at Macy’s. It actually cost $95 for 0.78oz. But it seems to be working.

What causes dark circles under my eyes and how to get rid of them?
I am 20 years old and I have very dark circles under my eyes. I am extremely healthy. I get around 9 hrs of sleep a night and I stay hydrated so I know its not either of those. I want to know how to get rid of them.
1) Use thinly sliced cucumber strips – This is a very popular as well as an easy way to cure bags under your eyes.
2) Identify allergens – Allergies may be the most common cause of skin discoloration under the eyes. If allergies are the root of your problem, you simply need to treat them or remove the allergen (i.e., the thing to which you are allergic). Seasonal allergy problems such as the hay fever can frequently be effectively treated with over-the-counter and prescription medications. For other allergies the best course of action is usually avoidance. If your dark circles or puffiness are constant, you may have an undetected food allergy or an allergy to a chemical in your home or workplace. Talk to a dermatologist for help determining what you may be allergic to. People with allergies also tend again to be deficient in B6, folic acid and B12 on occasion. Taking a multivitamin, if you don’t already, may help with your allergies as well as black circles.A common allergy that causes dark circles is gluten. This is mainly an allergy to wheat flour. More severely, you could have Celiac disease. To test for Celiac, you can get blood tests by your doctor. It’s important to remember, however, that you can be allergic to gluten, and not have Celiac.
3) Get plenty of sleep nightly – It’s not entirely clear why inadequate sleep results in dark circles under the eyes, but we’ve all seen it happen either to ourselves or someone we know. For one thing, lack of sleep tends to cause the skin to become paler (thus increasing the appearance of darkness under the eyes), and it reduces circulation. It’s also believed that too little time lying down is a cause in itself. Determine how much sleep you need (it’s usually 7-9 hours per night, but varies throughout different people) and try to get that amount regularly for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. Remember that alcohol and drugs can adversely affect the quality of your sleep; abstain from these products or use only in moderation for best results. A lack of sleep, coupled with poor vitamin absorption also tends to reduce adrenal function. The less adrenal function you have the less B6 you tend to absorb, the less B6 you absorb, the less well your adrenal glands work and alas you end up in a vicious circle. Sleep, regular vitamins for those that need them, and good calcium/magnesium support in the form of eating a lot of greens (which are higher in calcium and magnesium than dairy products) or good mineral supplement restores adrenal function. So if you want to break the cycle and the black circles under your eyes, you’ve got to reduce your stress, sleep more and take the proper vitamins and minerals to support the adrenal function in general.
4) Treat your skin while you sleep – There are overnight facial masques available that may help reduce the appearance of puffiness or discoloration, but you can also make your own. Just before you go to bed, take a washcloth and wet it just a bit with cold water. Then squeeze out any excess water and place it over your eyes as you sleep. Treating your skin may help, but the real problem may also be that you have a poor vitamin and mineral absorption problem that must also be corrected. Seeing a naturopathic physician may help for those people who suffer other ailments such as miscellaneous aches and pains that come and go and a general run down feeling.
5) Apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily- The tannin in tea bags has been shown to reduce swelling and discoloration, and cucumber slices have long been used to reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes. Lie down, preferably in the morning, and leave fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags (you can refrigerate them overnight so they’ll be ready) over your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. Keep your eyes closed.
Avoid rubbing your eyes – Usually rubbing of the eyes is brought on by allergies, but not always. Regardless of the reason, stop doing it. The rubbing irritates the skin and can break tiny capillaries beneath the skin, causing both puffiness and discoloration.
6Try to relax the space. You can do this by wetting a cotton swab and then freezing it for a little while. Then you should gently wipe under your eyes in the areas where the circles are occurring. When wiping, close your eyes and try not to flinch.
7) Apply an eye cream containing vitamin K and retinol – Dark circles may be caused by a deficiency of vitamin K. Regardless of the cause, however, recent research has shown that skin creams containing these two ingredients reduce – puffiness and discoloration significantly in many patients. Long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect.
9) Eat a healthy, balanced diet, take vitamins, and drink plenty of water – A whole host of cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. Dark circles and puffiness are often attributed to lack of
What Causes Dark Circles under my eyes?
I get dark circles under my eyes normally the week before my period. is this normal? what causes these dark circles?
The area around the eyes is the most delicates and thinnest of your face. The blood circulation in this area is a webbed of small blood vessels (capillaries), to give you and idea how small is , red cell have to wait in line to cross the vessel. Occasionally red cell leaks from the capillaries vessels.
Also, when your nose is congested (allergies etc) veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become wide dilated and darker.
Over-the-counter products may help diminish dark circles under eyes. Look for under eyes creams that contain vitamin C or K, Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein.
Note:In your case the changes in hormonal level cause an increase in the retention of fluids, forming a mild swelling, dark “bags” under your eye skin .

What causes dark circles under the eyes?
i am a healthy 13 year old girl. I am a competitive swimmer. And, i get a decent amount of sleep every night.. But, i have very weird looking, dark, ugly, noticeable dark circles under my eyes!! Ugh! What cause them?? And also, is it possible that getting too MUCH sleep causes them?? Please help.. Thanks!
Also, How can I fix them??!! Without getting any expensive crap from the stores??….Thanks!
You could just have those circles from genetics. You can get make up to neutralize them.
I have also heard of water (or was it something else…) pooling in parts of your face while you sleep.
What causes dark circles under the eyes other than a lack of sleep and stress?
I have been noticing dark sircles around the inner corners of the bottoms of my eyes.
is this because i use the computer too much or is it only from stress and sleep deprivation?
thanks in advance!
Hi,
I am no doctor but I realise no one answered your question. So I did a googling and found a website which helps:
“Black or dark circles under or around the eyes can be caused by many different factors. Most people inherit the tendency for dark circles. The following are the most common causes of those unattractive dark circles.
Fatigue, lack of sleep: A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause paleness of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to become more visible and appear more blue or darker….”
Hope this helps.
Pls sleep more and rest more. I am sure you will look better and more radiant. =)
